One of the America’s most popular and iconic shows, The Elle DeGeneres show is coming to an end. It has had a stupendous run of 19 reasons. The show has not been without its share of controversies. A couple of years back, it was shrouded with allegations of sexual misconduct and toxic workplace. It had resulted in the firing of key executives. Talk of Ellen DeGeneres ending the show had been doing the rounds since 2018. In the teaser of the upcoming show, she has confirmed that season 19 is the final one.
Ellen is quoted as saying, “If you’ve been watching this show, and I trust that you have, you know that a few weeks ago we celebrated our 3000th show. 3000 shows! So, that means as of today, we’ve done 3000 shows, plus 14, which is um…3000, plus 14 shows. I know, it’s a lot. And today, I have an announcement to make. Today, I’m announcing that next season, Season 19, is going to be my last season.”
She also said that her actress wife, Portia Rossi has been encouraging her to try out new avenues. She also said that her comedian brother wants her to continue. She said she knew in her heart of hearts that Season 19 would be her last one. Ellen DeGeneres was quoted as saying, “You may wonder why I’ve decided to end after 19 seasons. The truth is, I always trust my instincts. My instinct told me it’s time. ”
Ellen DeGeneres made history when at the peak of her career, she openly declared that she was from the LGBTQ community. That hardly proved to be a deterrent as people love her immensely. Thanking her loyal audience, Ellen DeGeneres said, “You all have changed my life and I am forever grateful to all of you for watching, for laughing, for dancing… sometimes crying. This show has been the greatest experience of my life, and I owe it all to you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”
It seems she had signed a deal with Netflix. Besides, she has an exclusive multi-year deal with Discovery to create documentaries on natural history.
