Cardi B is digging in the crates and sharing a never-before-heard version of “Bartier Cardi” featuring Playboi Carti.
The unreleased verse was supposed to appear on her 2017 single, but the Whole Lotta Red rapper turned his verse in too late to make her debut album Invasion of Privacy. In the end, the final song only featured 21 Savage.
“The only people I wanted was 21 savage & playboy carti,” Cardi wrote in a since-deleted tweet. “I actually still have Carti verse safe but he turn his verse in late. This was a trap record so I only wanted trap artist.”
To prove that she was telling the truth, she shared a snippet of Playboi Carti’s lost verse. “We poppin’ these pills, Percocets / Thought it was molly … Who you know hotter than Carti?” he raps.
“The plot from the beginning was too always put Carti since the song was called ‘Bartier Cardi’ & we t21 was cool cause it was his type of beat .I always show receipts !” Cardi went to explain.
The “Up” rapper said she asked her husband Offset to reach out to 21 Savage and Playboi about the features. “I always said this …I always been shy to ask for features That’s why offset always did it for me,” she said. “He asked 21 & playboy and the features on my album .Don’t come to my page begging and trolling for answers then when I give it ya get mad .WTTFF !”
“Bartier Cardi” was the second single off Invasion of Privacy. The song peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified 3x platinum by the RIAA.
